Deuteronomy 28:2,5

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.

How do I hear God?

The Bible says if I hearken, my basket and my store shall be blessed. I hearken by making my ears like empty baskets that I place so as to catch all the fruits of wisdom, understanding and knowledge that come out of the LORD’s mouth. That is why He said our basket and our store would be blessed. I bring Him an empty basket and He blesses it by filling it up with fruits.

Our ears are so filled with the cares of life and other human words that it is impossible to hear what God is saying to us. There is so much noise in today’s world that your head can feel like a NASCAR race track at times. We must learn to take all the noise around us to the LORD and let Him empty out our basket so that He can bless it.

It seems an impossible task to empty my ears out with so many thoughts like race cars running around in circles inside your head. However if I will be faithful to daily find a secret place with God and give myself to Him all over again, He will be faithful to clean my ears out and bless my basket.

He will bless my basket and my store.

The word for store here, in the original, means a kneading trough or bowl. It comes from the sense of swelling. So I can take the blessing upon what I hear from God and kneed it in the kneeding trough of my mind and God will bless it to swell into whatever I have need of.

So let us not allow our ears to boss and govern our lives. Let us learn to allow God to boss and govern our ears. From that we will receive God’s blessings that will swell into whatever I have need of in my life.
