Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
Why are we human beings so quick to focus on and discuss the negative? Today’s world is filled with strife. The Bible clearly says that if strife is being stirred up it is coming from hate. Therefore I should deal with my own feelings and emotions first before attempting to communicate with anyone else. We are certainly required to face and deal with strife and negativity in today’s world, but how much better the world would be if I did that out of love and not hate.
In the simplest form there really is only two forces at work in this world, love and hate or light and darkness. There is a complete spectrum of mixture between the two but in the simplest form it all is love and hate or a mixture of the two. The evidence of which one we are operating from is given in the scripture referenced above. “Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.”
The word translated as covereth in Proverbs 10:12 in the same word used when the Bible tells us about the flood covering the whole earth in Noah’s day. So when we are faced with strife and negativity instead of dealing with it out of hatred by exposing it to anyone who will listen, I need to deal with it through the love of God. It doesn’t mean we don’t correct the wrong but we do it by going straight to the root of the problem, instead of advertising it as many places as I can.
The wrong of Noah’s day was dealt with and covered at the same time by the love of God.
A good test is to ask myself if I would want someone to repeat the same thing about me that I am exposing about someone else. Oh God help us to learn to deal with the things of life that cross our paths out of your love and not inject anymore strife into the situation.
Love covers all sin. It doesn’t go around advertising it.
