Psalms 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Be still and know.

One meaning of the word translated as know in the English here is, to perceive and see, find out and discern. In other words when we get still we can begin to learn that He is God.

We think we know He is God and we give mental assent to that fact but if we are really honest we must admit that there are times we are not really certain God is going to work this thing out in my best interest. Be still and know that I am God is what He said. In other words get still and you can begin to learn that He is God.

I wouldn’t mind going through this if I just knew how long it was going to last and how it would all work out. Particularly so in today’s world of instant gratification where I can just push a button and download it instantly 24 hours a day. But is there any trust involved if I know exactly what kind of time line God is on and how He is going to do it?

Be still. Is that even possible? Yes it is. There are different ways people get there but it is possible. There is a place of trust in God when we just know He is God and will fix it in His way and in His time and it will be right.

Be still and know that “I Am”. That’s what the Lord told Moses to tell Pharaoh when he went to him. He said, Moses tell Pharaoh that I am that I am sent you. In the original it means, I am what I wish to be. So it doesn’t matter what it looks like, and it doesn’t matter how trapped and enslaved you are in the situation, be still and know that God is the great I Am and it will be what He wishes it to be in His time and in His way.

Nothing can stop us when we learn to be still and get acquainted with the great I Am.
