2 Corinthians 9:6
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

Today’s world seems to be all about getting. We work to get this and we work to get that. The thing we miss is the secret to getting. The Bible is clear in Matthew 16:25 when it says, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”

We don’t get by keeping everything we can get our hands on and then consuming it upon our own altar of lust, but contrariwise we receive by giving. A harvest comes by planting seed and not by consuming everything you can get your hands on.

Now while this may certainly be applied to sowing my financial support into the Kingdom of God, it applies in a much higher realm called sowing a field of love. When Naomi and Ruth returned to Israel from Moab, Ruth went to reap in Boaz’s field. She could have kept everything that she gleaned from Boaz’s field but instead she shared with her mother-in-law, Naomi.

As a result of Ruth sharing with Naomi, she reaped love beyond her wildest dreams and imagination when the owner of the field, Boaz, took Ruth for his wife. Ruth worked in the field and shared what she received and reaped being married to the one who owned the field. That’s a good deal in anyone’s books.

God has invested His love in us, as it says in John 3:16, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. As we begin to reap the fruit of God’s love coming up in our life, we have an obligation to share that love with others. As we sow God’s love in others, we will reap a love relationship with God Almighty that is beyond human comprehension.

The way to reap a bountiful harvest is to sow bountifully. The way to find the love we have sought so long is to sow love where ever God’s plan takes us in life. It is a promise from God Himself that if we sow we shall surely reap. Let us sow God’s love bountifully as we walk through this world.
