Psalm 145:8-10
The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.

Slow to anger. The same word for slow to anger in the original tongue is used in Ezekiel 17:3 and is translated as longwinged, “And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:”

So when the LORD is slow to anger, He is a longwinged eagle that comes and covers over a person or a situation. Instead of advertising the garbage and publishing it on every social media site possible, He just simply covers it over with His longwings as an eagle.

An eagle builds its nest in a high place and incubates its eggs and raises its young in that high place. It is in that high place that the eagle uses its long wings to cover over, warm and protect its eggs and young ones. Instead of flying off the handle and immediately passing judgment on a person or situation the LORD carries that to the eagles nest and covers it over. Instead of pushing someone away in anger, He brings them closer to Him and covers them over to protect them in hopes that life will come out of that situation.

How quick we are to write someone off and push them away from us because, in our limited finite understanding, we are certain they are never going to get it right. Instead of elevating something by placing it under the wings of the eagle, we are quick to try and push it down beneath us and bury it, out of sight and out of mind.

The LORD is good to all and His tender mercies are over all. Not just the ones we choose. We can relax and quit worrying because the Bible says clearly, that all His works are going to praise Him. It may not be happening today but “ALL” His works are going to praise Him. The thing that sets us apart in the end is that although all His works are going to praise Him, there are some who choose to bless Him in the middle of it now. It will be obvious in that day which of His works learned to praise Him in the end and which of His works choose to bless Him in the middle of the situations while walking through them.

Oh LORD of all creation, teach us to be slow to anger!
