Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

How simple is that? In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. That is certainly a nice little piece of information but how does that work in my daily life?

You see if we go far enough back past whatever is happening, to the beginning of all things, we will find God. Before there was anything, there was God. Then how is everything so out of control and why are bad things happening? Those are questions that it will take eternity to answer but this one thing we do know, before everything that is, there was nothing but God. Colossians 1:17 says, “And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” Many times we do not understand how this or that can happen and we don’t understand why a God of love would allow tragedy and pain. But what we can understand is that before all of that there was nothing but God.

Therefore when things are out of control and my understanding is just not getting it, I can make a journey back to the beginning of all things and there I will have an encounter with the God of the beginning that produces a peace that passes and goes beyond all understanding. This the beginning point of a new creation in my life. When there are no options left and I am completely bogged down with creation and all of its demands and pains and disappointments, it is the perfect time to make a trip back to the beginning God. The beginning God is a place where the turmoil of creation does not defeat us. It is a place where a new creation begins in our life.

Creation may seem to be spinning out of control but I do not have to join myself to the negativity of today’s doomsayers. I can quickly run back to the Beginning God who was before all things and who is big enough to help His children live a victorious and blessed life in the midst of the present darkness.

Peter discovered the Beginning God in Acts chapter twelve. Herod intended to kill Peter the next morning but Peter ran back to the Beginning God and simply rested in his relationship with the LORD. In the midst of all that darkness a light suddenly shinned in the prison and Peter was miraculously delivered. Peter got in touch with the beginning God and a way out of prison and deliverance from certain death was created.

LORD teach us to return to the Beginning of God!
