Revelation 4:11
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

All things are and were created for the Lord’s pleasure. That is just about completely opposite to the way things are in today’s world of instant gratification and it’s about me and if it feels good do it. All the way from Washington to the church you can count on people doing what’s best for themselves and not necessarily what’s right in the situation.

All things were created for the Lord’s pleasure. The word pleasure as used here means what one wishes or has determined shall be done. If you looked at the politics or religion of today you would be convinced this is a sinking ship. However all things were created for the Lord’s pleasure and what He has determined shall be done. The mystery lies in the fact of God’s greatness. Although it is hard and seemingly impossible to understand why a God of love would allow so many ugly things to happen in this world, we can rest assured that God is so big and so great that He can use even ugly things to accomplish and bring His will to pass.

Once upon a time the Lord asked a man to get up and leave his family and his city and go to a place that he “would” show him. Genesis 12:1, Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: What a hard thing! The Lord didn’t even say please. He just said get up and get out. Abraham had to leave everything and he went through many hard times but in the end he ended up the richest man on the earth at the time, both spiritually and naturally. But first Abraham had to surrender to make a journey to a place that the Lord would show him only after he surrendered to do the Lord’s will.

It’s not hard to agree to what God wants if He shows us exactly what is going to happen, the timeline involved and what the reward will be. It’s an entirely different thing when God commands us to get up and get out and I will show you later where you are going. Rest assured that all things were created for His pleasure and He is big enough and great enough to bring it to pass.
