Luke 2:12-14
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And this shall be a sign unto you. The sign is that we will discover a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. The only begotten Son of God was born in humble circumstances to a lowly virgin, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger, an animal’s feed trough, because there was no room for the little family in the inn.

We often look for the exalted King of Glory to come swooping in and deliver us from our circumstances and set us free. However, there is no room in the inn of our heart where that desire lives. The peace we seek in our situations of life is wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. These shepherds were watching over the sheep that had been given to them through the night season. As they faithfully did what they were supposed to do, they received a revelation of where the peace was that we all so desperately desire in life. It is wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.

Immediately after understanding where the King of Humility was born there was the angle of the Lord with a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

We can always tell when we have truly discovered the sign we are looking for because a new song of “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” will come up in our heart.

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior today, let us return to the manger and rediscover the King of Humility and allow a song of “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
