1 Corinthians 14:33

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

God is not the author of confusion. The plan that God authored and wrote out did not contain instability, a state of disorder, disturbance or confusion. When we begin to see instability, a state of disorder, disturbance and confusion it is a sure sign that some plan authored by someone or something other than God is being implemented. The question is how we react to the instability, disorder, disturbance and confusion and what are we to do in the middle of it?

The earth was in just such a state in Genesis 1:2 when the Bible says, “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” God does not author the instability, disorder, disturbance and confusion but He allows it at times in our lives because it prepares us for the Spirit of God to be able to come in and move upon the face of the waters. The beginning of a new creative work starts with the Spirit of God moving upon the instability, disorder, disturbance and confusion in our life.

We experience this in many different forms and fashions in our lives but one of the biggest ways can be on our job. In today’s uncertain times the instability, disorder, disturbance and confusion can wreak havoc on our job even to the point that we lose our job, either by choice or not. That can be a life changing experience for sure. We can either react with depression, anger or some other destructive emotion or we can find the peace of God that passeth all understanding and invite the Spirit of God to come in and move upon the face of our waters and do a new thing in us.

It is hard to understand but this also happens in churches. Of course there is nothing as ugly as a religious war because both sides are convinced they are the right ones on the side of ultimate truth and if you don’t see their ultimate truth you are doomed to something less. In reality the reaction should be to invite the Spirit of God in to move upon the face of the waters and see then what kind of new creative work God is wanting to do.

Of course this occurs in marriages and relationships also. When this happens in a relationship if both parties would join together and invite the Spirit of God to move upon the face of the waters they would see awesome things accomplished and a world created by God Almighty that they would never have dreamed possible.
