James 4:6

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

The Lord giveth more grace. He giveth more grace than what and what is this grace that He gives us?

Grace is loving-kindness, favour, benefit, bounty, and thanks. These are the things that God gives to us. We cannot earn them but rather they are given to us as an expression of the Lord’s gratitude to us for us practicing humility before Him.

Humility is simply our attitude before God. Humility manifest itself as trust. When we really trust the Lord we can be anxious for nothing as we are commanded to do in Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

The world, with few exceptions, is all about doing whatever you have to do to get one more thing and one more dollar even if that means walking all over everyone around you on the way. However the thing is you can’t earn the loving-kindness, favour, benefit, bounty, and thanks of the Lord. It is something He freely gives to us as an expression of His gratitude for us putting our trust in Him.

Let us therefore assume an attitude of humility before the Lord, giving thanks to Him for His death, our salvation and the bountifulness He has already provided. Then as we make our requests known to Him, He will meet all our needs according to His riches in glory.
