Colossians 3:9-11

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Lie not one to another. If we have truly put off the old man and have truly put on the man then it is unacceptable to lie one to another. The Bible says here that if we have in fact put off the old man and put on the new man then we are in a place where there is neither Greek nor Jew and there is neither circumcision nor uncircumcision.

It doesn’t matter what religious title we wear or what political view we embrace and it doesn’t matter what color my skin is or what color your skin is, and it doesn’t matter what language I speak or what language you speak, when we have truly put off the old man and put on the new man, there will be neither Greek nor Jew and there will be neither circumcised nor uncircumcised but rather we will live together in the truth and speaking the truth one to the other in love.

What is the truth then? The truth was given when Jesus taught the model prayer in Matthew 6:9. He said we are to pray, “Our Father which art in heaven.” Our Father, not my Father. We have the same Father and He is in heaven and not all wrapped up in who speaks which language or who is what color. He is our Father. Why then do we need to lie to each other? Why is it we don’t just speak the truth, in love, and then take our hands off and let our Father work on His other child just as He has us?
