Romans 13:1

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Young’s Literal Translation says it this way, “Let every soul to the higher authorities be subject, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities existing are appointed by God,”

We, of course, need to do our part by participating in whatever governing process is in place where we live, on all levels, to include national and local. But to allow the governing process to destroy us and our vision of Jesus and divide us as a people is wrong. Whatever governing authority that is in place in my area of the world is appointed and ordained by God. That does not mean that immoral and abuse of power entrusted to ruling powers is okay. It just means that God is bigger than all of that. There certainly comes a time when we must choose to move on as individuals because of moral objections but clearly God is bigger than what happened to me or else all hope is lost.

Genesis 8:1, “And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;” Noah was caught in a once in a creation flood. He could have descended into depression and jumped ship but instead he remained in the ship of salvation. Sure enough at the appointed time, the bigger than a flood God, calmed the flood and begin the process of restoring Noah’s world.

I am so grateful today that I know and that I am in a relationship with the Bigger than a flood God!
