Matthew 6:6

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

A prayer closet is a storeroom or a secret inner room. It is a room that is your secret place with God. A prayer closet is a place where you can get alone and it is just you and the Lord.

In today’s modern, fast paced and connected world that can be quite a challenge to accomplish but the rewards of a quite time and the benefits of connecting with the Lord are enormous. It is almost unthinkable that someone would be disconnected from the world and the internet in today’s world and still be able to do business in any sort of efficient way. What if we applied the same thinking to our relationship with the Lord?

Instead of immediately jumping on social media and posting our frustration and ranting about the latest thing that has upset us, what if we tried going to the secret inner place and connecting with the Lord? The promise is that if we pray to the Father in secret that He will reward us openly.

What if instead of an email campaign we started a knee mail campaign?

Im my experience in life I have discovered that many times when we try to express our frustration with circumstances or situations to another human being there is a good chance that we are going to suffer some rejection. The rejection only feeds the frustration we were feeling to begin with and can push us over into anger disconnecting us from one another instead of healing division.

How much better it would be if we just went and talked to the Lord in the secret inner chamber and allowed Him to do as He sees best in the open?
