1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
Good news! We have been appointed to obtain salvation.
It can be easy to become dejected and dismayed in the world we live in these days. Is there anyone left that is telling the truth? It seems that the level of willful ignorance and deception in order to obtain power and become a part of the ruling class elites is without end. The human reaction can easily be that, surely God Almighty is angry and will destroy us all. The good news is however that, “God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The issue is that it is so easy for us to place our eyes on all the lies, deceit and sin around us rather than looking at Jesus Christ. In John 12:32 Jesus said, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” Instead of spending so much time, energy and breath on the corrupt garbage that is known as society in today’s world why don’t we start lifting up Jesus and His sacrificial death of obedience for us? “God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.” We are not in the circumstances of today because the LORD hates us but rather because we are appointed to obtain salvation. Jesus suffered and died as a criminal in the eyes of man that we might obtain salvation. Can we not lift Him up in the eyes of those around us as a beacon of hope in the midst of life today?
As the LORD said to Abram in Genesis 15:1, “After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”
Fear Not! There is good news today! For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. Put your eyes on Jesus Christ and walk forward in the love and light of Calvary.
