Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
The Lord GOD does nothing except He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets first. To me that is completely beyond comprehension. The Lord GOD of all heaven and earth will surely do nothing except He reveal it unto His servants the prophets first? He is the Lord God. He doesn’t have to reveal anything to anyone before He does it if He doesn’t want to. Why does He do that?
Amos, one of the minor prophets of the Old Testament, preached that religious rituals and rules were not enough. Amos’ position was that in addition to religious tenets and forms there also had to be economic and social justice embraced and practiced by those who would be religious. As it says in James 1:27, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” How are we going to go to church, pray, give money to the church and do all these religious things and it not change the way we treat other people? There are two sides to this religious thing and that is certainly to keep ourselves unspotted from the world but moreover it is to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction.
Do you want to have the kind of relationship with the Lord GOD that He tells you what He is going to do before He does it? Then put away your religious forms and embrace pure religion which is to love the LORD with all your being but it is also to love your neighbor as yourself.
If you are truly loving the LORD with all your being then His love, that you are experiencing, will begin to change you into the loving creature God has called you to be. How can the Lord God love me unconditionally like I am and then I could be so bold as to turn around and look down on my neighbor in scorn and hate and not love them unconditionally?
Do you want the kind of relationship with the Lord GOD where He tells you what He is going to do before He does it? Then take your religion outside the church walls and outside your walls of comfort and love your neighbor as yourself.
