Hebrews 7:14
For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
The Old Testament priesthood was the Tribe of Levi which means to join or to be joined to. Jesus, the New Testament priesthood came from the Tribe of Judah. The word Judah means praise or to be praised.
While we all go through an Old Testament dispensation spiritually in our life, we reach a place in our journey where we discover what the Apostle Paul was talking about in 1 Corinthians 12:31 when he said, “…and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” A more excellent way of walking in relationship with Jesus Christ as we praise Him and trust Him for every step of our way.
It is amazing to me how that as New Testament believers we can walk under Old Testament law and bondage in an attempt to climb up by works instead of through trust and worship of Jesus Christ. John 10:1, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” While we may enter the sheepfold through Jesus Christ I believe we still often times attempt to build a tower of works just as occurred with the Tower of Babel in an attempt to reach the LORD when in reality what the LORD desires from us is our trust and worship as we walk through life.
If we can accomplish spiritual superiority and arrive at the top by works, where is our trust in the LORD? It would seem that we are much quicker to rely on our own works versus trusting God to accomplish His will and implement His plan as I wait in worship. Where is the trust in that?
The Old Testament order of animal sacrifices in the Bible was finally destroyed, by force, seventy years after Jesus died at Calvary when Titus destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem. I pray it doesn’t take seventy years and force to destroy my Old Testament order and cause me to fully and completely trust Jesus as I walk through this life worshipping Jesus Christ.
